Why is my Peg-in or Peg-out taking longer than usual?

AQUA uses SideSwap to handle Peg-ins and Peg-outs between Bitcoin and Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC). Most of the time, SideSwap completes these instantly using liquidity from its hot wallet.

However, sometimes SideSwap’s hot wallet runs out of liquidity. When that happens, your transaction has to take the slow route, a full peg transaction on the Liquid Network.

This process requires 102 Bitcoin confirmations (roughly 17 hours) before it completes. 

We’re working on:

• Adding a warning in AQUA to let you know when a transaction will use the slow route.
• Introducing a fallback system so that even when SideSwap’s hot wallet is low, AQUA can avoid unnecessary delays.

If your Peg-in or Peg-out is still pending, it’s most likely just waiting for those confirmations to complete.
