What Counts as a Swap in AQUA?
AQUA supports both regular transactions and swaps. Understanding the difference helps you know what to expect in terms of speed, fees, and reliability.
Regular Transactions (Not Swaps)
These are simple sends or receives on the same network.
They don’t involve third parties and are typically faster.
Examples:
-
Sending or receiving BTC on Bitcoin mainnet
-
Sending or receiving L-BTC, L-USDT, or any other Liquid asset on the Liquid network
As long as the asset stays on its native network, it’s not a swap.
Swaps
Swaps involve moving assets across networks, or using third-party services to process the transaction.
Swaps include:
-
Lightning transactions (sending or receiving)
-
Peg-ins (sending BTC from mainnet into AQUA)
-
Peg-outs (sending BTC from AQUA to a mainnet BTC address)
-
Sending or receiving USDT on any network other than Liquid
-
Paying Liquid network fees with L-USDT
(This triggers a micro-swap via SideSwap behind the scenes)
