Using AQUA with Tor or a VPN

Using Bitcoin wallets through a VPN or an anonymity router such as Tor is an increasingly popular practice, especially among advanced Bitcoiners.

However, our testing and debugging process has found that activating a Orbot: Tor for Android may cause severe slowdown in AQUA's functioning. For this reason, until our team of developers officially adds support for using AQUA over Tor, we advise users to refrain from this as doing so could result in a subpar AQUA experience.

In some cases, a VPN may completely cut off AQUA from connecting to Electrum servers, thus rendering the wallet unusable. Our team of developers is actively working on improving this and any other features that can help AQUA users embrace better privacy-preserving practices.
